It is my privilege to serve as the Interim Director of the UAHS CTSI Biorepository Service Unit. One aspect of the University of Arizona Health Sciences’ mission is to improve health and human potential through scientific investigations to solve critical health care problems. In support of this mission, a standardized and regulatory-compliant; privacy protected repository for biospecimen processing and storage was created. This initiative allows for collaborations between investigators and allows internal and external investigators to reduce costs, redundancies, and risks associated with alternative bio-banking strategies.
The CTSI Biorepository Service Unit provides support for basic, clinical. and epidemiological research studies involving specimen collection processing, annotation, and inventory management. Various type of samples may be banked including but not limited to blood, sera, plasma, PBMC, DNA/RNA, nasal swabs, fluids, blood spot cards, etc.
